Sonic the Hedgehog, who debuted in 1991 on the Sega Genesis, is today a well-known and adored figure among fans of video games all over the world. Before facing off against the fearsome Dr. Robotnik, Sonic, the game's protagonist, must navigate his way through six different worlds.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
In 1992, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was released as a Sega Genesis video game. Since Sonic was the only character in the original game, Tails joining in to assist Sonic made this game special. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 allowed you to play as both Sonic and Tails at the same time, which was revolutionary for its time. In Super Mario Bros, you had to control Mario and Luigi separately.
Sonic The Hedgehog 3
1994 saw the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which came only two years after its predecessor. The dynamic combination of Sonic and Tails was reunited in the game, while Knuckles the Echidna, who guards the mystery island where the Death Egg crashed, was also featured.
Sonic And Knuckles
Although Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic and Knuckles were both released in 1994, there are several distinctions. For instance, during the title screen of Sonic and Knuckles, you can select to play as Sonic or Knuckles. The storyline and objective are the usual Sonic-style chaos and enjoyment.
Sonic 3D Blast
One of the few 3D Sonic games in existence, Sonic 3D Blast delivers a completely distinct gameplay experience. You have several directions in which to sprint, jump, and spin. Investigate the enigmatic island to learn its secrets. The Flicky Birds are the birds that live on the island. Are they going to be crucial to Sonic's success?
Sonic Burned Edition
Sonic Burned Edition is a well-executed rom hack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis, with entirely new levels and a fire theme.
Sonic X Freedom Planet
You play Lilac in the Sonic X Freedom Planet video game instead of Sonic. The colors are different, and the images are darker. This rom has a certain overall vibe. When you play, you will understand what I mean. I give this hack an overall score of 8/10.
Sonic Streets Of Rage 3
An excellent beat 'em up from the heyday of side scrolling is Sonic Streets of Rage 3. Axel and Blaze, two longtime Streets of Rage favorites, are among the four characters you can select. The main treat, though, is getting to play as Sonic in this fantastic game. Be aware that you can perform a wide variety of attack combos. For instance, the moves made by B + down, B and right, right, B differ from one another.
Sonic 2 Pink Edition
Amy Rose and Cream the Rabbit are included in the Sonic 2 Pink Edition, a completely remixed version of Sonic 2. Amy has her piko piko hammer with her and can use it to great effect. Cream can fly and has a cheese attack.
Sonic and Knuckles Sonic 3
The video game Sega designers always imagined when Sonic 3 was first published is Sonic and Knuckles alongside Sonic 3. This game is jam-packed with 14 zones, 3 playable characters, the Super Emerald missions, and even Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles' Hyper/Super transformations.
Sonic Gaiden
A modified version of Sonic the Hedgehog's Japanese rom is called Sonic Gaiden. You have the option of controlling Sonic or Mighty the Armadillo. There are only superficial differences between Mighty and Sonic.
Sonic Next
A Sonic Next rom hack is currently unfinished but will hopefully be done eventually. You can play as Sonic the Hedgehog for the time being, and you will have to battle, spin, and hop your way through four stages and a boss battle. This game's level design is odd, but it is still enjoyable.
Sonic 1 with Fries
Play as Sonic or Ray the Flying Squirrel to recover the stolen Chaos Fries through 6 distinct levels. In order to execute each character's unique move, press "C" mid-jump.
Sonic Jam 6
Sonic has arrived in the Mario universe! Spin and hop as usual, but after you get your hands on the great fireflower, you can also throw fireballs!
Sonic The Lost Land 2
This fantastic hack places Sonic in the world of forgotten time, where he must once more battle Dr. Eggman through 11 additional courses.
Sonic for Master System
Play the original Sonic video game! Play has 8 bit graphics but is otherwise comparable to the Genesis version.
Knuckles In Sonic 1
In this Sonic the Hedgehog 1 hack, Knuckles takes the place of Sonic. Knuckles can climb walls and glide through the air but is less adept at jumping. Some bosses and stages will be made easier by Knuckles' special skills, while others will be far more challenging.
Knuckles In Sonic 2
Your sole playable character in this rom hack is Knuckles (Sonic and Tails are not playable). Knuckles gains all of his typical powers, including the capacity to glide and scale walls. Knuckles can transform into Super Knuckles while carrying 50 rings if he acquires all 7 Chaos Emeralds.
Sonic 3 And Sally Acorn
Sally Acorn can be controlled in this sega rom hack in place of Sonic. She is slower than Sonic and unable to perform spin attacks, although she can slide, shoot lasers, and use scan mode to reprogramme Eggman traps and other machinery.
Sonic Mania Edition
Sonic Mania Edition is a rom hack that draws inspiration from the Sega Genesis version of the first Sonic the Hedgehog game and also incorporates certain features from the future Sonic Mania game. It is a timeless platform game that gives the Sonic Franchise a fresh look. It came out in 2016.
Metal Sonic Hyperdrive
There is no stopping Dr. Robotnik's finest invention! Unless Sonic were to transform into Metal Sonic, that is. This Sonic 1 rom hack features brand-new levels and music to go along with a horrific story.

Amy Rose in Sonic 1
For all the Amy Rose enthusiasts out there, there is a fun rom hack called Amy Rose in Sonic the Hedgehog (you know who you are). She possesses a large hammer to smash foes with in addition to being able to sprint and jump like Sonic. When she swings it, it even spits out hearts. Cute.
Sonic 2 Robotniks Revenge
With 17 different monsters to battle, this entertaining boss rush hack lets you play Time Attack or Survival mode. At the start of the game, you can decide between Sonic and Tails.
